What is Acid Reflux Disease

People that are obese or overweight tend to have more problems with acid reflux disease than the average population. You have to maintain a healthy weight and avoid consuming chocolate, tomato products, onions, garlic, fatty food, and food that is very spicy.

There are certain medications that tend to cause heart burn in the esophagus. Taking ibuprofen, certain blood pressure pills on a regular basis can affect the level of acidity in the stomach.

What exactly of the symptoms of this disease of acid escaping into the esophagus tube? There are two very common symptoms of acid reflux and they are : a burning pain in the chest region or even in the throat, and tendency to regurgitate food that has been swallowed. Regurgitation due to acid reflux causes a bitter or sour-tasting sensation for the sufferer of this disease.

There are many ways to test forĀ  ARD. A doctor can perform an esophageal manometry or even an endoscopy procedure to check for problems in your stomach and esophagus regions. Sometimes a biopsy is done during an endoscopic test so that adnormalities and infections can be revealed if they are there.
