Acid Heartburn

When trying to deal with acid heartburn, you should try to find out was the cause are of acid reflux. Then make the changes in your lifestyle and the way that you live in order to get rid of that burning sensation.

There are certain liquids that cause acid in the stomach to gather such as coffee, drinking tea, and any other drink that contains a lot of caffeine. The reason that acid reflux problems occur with these everyday drinks is that the lower esophageal sphincter is relaxing because of the caffeine which allows acid to flow up the esophagus.

Also, candies that contain chocolate has been proven to cause burning due to access acidity in the stomach. Chocolate has traces of theobromine in it that also affect the sphincter muscle in the esophagus.

Beside caffeine and theobromine, foods that contain lots of fat and are fried cause stomach acid to accumulate. These fatty foods reduce the speed of digestion which allows this food to remain in the stomach for a long time. This slow digestion, allows the acid more time to escape into the esophagus tube causing extreme heart burn.

Eating lots of tomatoes and products that are tomato-based also allows acid to escape into the LES.

Lots of people do not realize that drinking excessively alcohol can cause acid reflux to occur. Again, the lower esophageal sphincter tends to relax with alcohol intake causing stomach acid problems.

A major way that the average person causes heartburn is to eat within 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. Food tends to reflux because of the contents in the stomach applying pressure on the LES.

Tight clothing is another cause of acid refluxing. The abdomen is being squeezed in such a way that food in being forced back up into the esophagus bringing along with it acid that was in the stomach aiding in digestion of the food contents.
