Finding a systematic holistic way to deal with acid heartburn is a challenge. I looked for years until I came across a system that worked for me personally.

I used to try out many methods to decrease the burning sensation that I had after eating a hearty meal. For instance, someone told me that I needed to drink tons of water after a meal so that the acid in my stomach would be neutralized. That worked somewhat, but not for very long.
If you truly want to look into a method that I know that works, I suggest that you look into a system that consists of just 5 steps for you to take to cure your heartburn once and for all.

I know that you are thinking that you will have to deal with your acid reflux problem for years to come, but it doesn’t have to be that way. It will take some time and a slight alteration in your diet, but I would estimate that in a few months that you will totally get rid of that burning heartburn.
You can right away reduce your heartburn by reducing the amount of sugary foods that you are consuming, but in the long run, you will need more a systematic approach to dealing with acid heartburn.
I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping through the night since the acid always seemed to come up into my esophagus. I no longer have that sort of pain and I achieved this freedom by never eating two hours before sleeping and also by taking other important more advanced action.

There are many reasons why acid heartburn occurs and why people search out a reflux remedy. The biggest cause of heartburn, of course, is diet. If you are constantly eating fatty foods and foods that are high in sugar, your chances of getting heartburn increase.
In order to reduce the chance of heartburn occurring, try eating smaller meals. If you stuff yourself, more stomach acid is needed to digest the food in your stomach. Plus, after each meal, make sure that you do not lay down for a few hours, since staying upright will reduce the chances of stomach acid escaping.
Another way to cause acid reflux, is to exercise too soon after eating, I can remember my mother dealing me not to swim after eating and I never understood why exactly. I now know that the abdominal muscles can squeeze acid out of the stomach and into the esophagus.
One way of causing acid reflux to occur that is not well known is through wearing clothing that is too tight. Tight clothing can add extra pressure to the stomach region.
Also, the emotional state of a person can cause acid heartburn. When you are stressed out, you contract muscles, including the abdominal muscles. These muscle contractions can squeeze stomach acid upwards.

A big part of dealing with acid heartburn is understanding how to prevent it from happening in the first place. I know that if you have a chronic case of acid reflux disease, medications are sometimes necessary, but you can reduce the severity of heartburn.
Watching your diet is a great holistic way of dealing with chronic heartburn. There are foods that you might be eating that are causing more acid to appear in the stomach which increases the chances of some of the acid escaping into the esophagus which causes heartburn.
For instance, I used to eat lots of sugary foods before going to bed and I was constantly waking up with a burning sensation in my chest region.
Besides just reducing your intake of sugary foods, try avoid eating a few hours before retiring for the evening.
If you follow the above tips, you most likely will reduce the number of times that heartburn is occurring.
